Great Series - Persnickety Snark's Five Challenge 2010

Today is the third day of Persnickety Snark's FIVE Challenge for 2010. If you don't know what that is, click here. Until the end of the month, myself and a bunch of other bloggers, including Persnickety Snark, will be counting down our TOP FIVE's in a bunch of different categories.

Today's category is... Great Series!

I wasn't sure how to judge what series were allowed in the list for 2010 so I decided that I would include only those where a book in that series was released this year.

I actually don't usually read series, but almost all of the ones I do read had titles released this year, so I have just posted them all, even though there are six. So in no particular order...

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott

The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater

The Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Just to be fair, these are my other favourite series that have either finished or didn't have titles released this year. I couldn't help myself, I felt like I was neglecting my babies!

Check back in on the 25th for the Five Most Anticipated Titles of 2011

  4. Hey Jess!

I hadn't heard of the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. Looks good.

Great picks. I'm glad you didn't leave out your babies. I'm a huge Twilight fan, and have you read Clockwork Angel by Cassie Clare yet? I know that Clare has said it is its own series, but it is in the same world as TMI books.

  5. Great choices! I love the Skulduggery series, but unfortunately the last two haven't been published in the US yet. Love your picks!

  6. Nomes - Yes give them another go! I just got my sister to read them and she can't put them down!

Audrey - That's what I love about Skulduggery too, it's just so witty!

Becky - Do give Hunger Games a try, you won't regret it! I put off reading it for ages but when I finally gave it a go I just loved it.

Missie - Skulduggery is actually a series aimed at 9-12 yr olds which is maybe why you haven't heard of it but, just like so many others, it is easily enjoyed by adults. It's funny and witty :) And no, I haven't read Clockwork Angel yet. I've read mixed reviews so have been unsure as to if I should give it a go.

Melissa - Thanks! So glad to find another Skulduggery fan :D

  7. Well Jess,

Funny but my intro to Clare was CA. I have yet to read TMI because I have heard that Clare rips off her own series, and I really loved CA so I don't want to be disappointed if that turns out to be true.

  9. Love The Hunger Games and VA. I forgot about Shiver, wish I had put that on my list :)

I seem to struggle with Beautiful Creatures. The pace was to me was a little slow. I really liked the concept though. Maybe I should try it again.
