Beautiful Creatures Casting News

As many of you may know, Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl is being made into a movie and the actors for the roles of Ethan, Lena and Amma have recently been announced.

For the characters of Ethan Wate and Lena Duchannes, relatively unknown actors have been chosen.

English actor Jack O'Connell, 21, is best known for his role in Skins. Alice Englert, originally from New Zealand, is 17 and has a number of films in production.



For the role of Amma, 2012 Oscar Nominee Viola Davis has, in my opinion, been perfectly cast.

Filming in New Orleans begins in April.

Beautiful Chaos Update!

A couple of days ago the title of book three in the Caster Chronicles was announced as being Beautiful Chaos and today the cover AND release date have been revealed!


I love how all three covers tell a mini story; through the woods, up the steps to the gate. Everything is slowly revealed. Authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl don't actually decide what goes on the cover but I think the designer has done a really great job on them all. I can't wait to see what the cover of book four is going to be.

Beautiful Chaos will be released 18th October 2011! It seems like it is ages away but I'm sure the time will pass quickly!

You can also head over to NextMovie for info on the film adaptation, complete with a fantasy cast from Garcia and Stohl! I love who they have suggested (except for the first Ethan and second Lena), and think they would be perfect but most fantasy castings don't usually follow through to the actual casting. But I can hope right?

I Am Number Four - Movie Review

My Book Review: I Am Number Four

This week, the film of I Am Number Four was released worldwide. I am a major fan of the book and I had very high expectations for the film, some of which were met, and others that were not.



I thought the casting was PERFECT for all the characters. While the acting may not be Oscar material, almost every character was how I had imagined. The casting of Alex Pettyfer as John/ Number Four was already known by the time the book went on sale so I already pictured Pettyfer as him. I thought Callan McAuliffeut was fantastic as Sam although my original thought was he looked a little young but as the film progressed he really fit into the role. Seeing Timothy Olyphant, playing Henri, with long hair threw me a bit at the beginning but all became right when it got chopped off about 10mins in.

As usual, the film did differ from how many scenes were played out in the book. At least three of the more major scenes (that I can remember at the moment) were changed and viewers without prior book knowledge would not have thought anything of it. But for me, my mind kept telling me that it wasn't supposed to be like that and so I found it a little difficult to view it objectively.

That said, one of my favourite scenes in the film wasn't even in the book. At the beginning of the book and movie, Henri and John have to leave Florida after almost being exposed. After they have left, Number Six shows up and burns their old house to the ground. As far as I remember (although I did the read the book back in June 2010 so my memory might be wrong) , this bit never happened in the book. It just looks awesome as Number Six, played by Teresa Palmer, walks away with this massive fireball behind her. Very cool, and she looks totally bad-ass.

Some other things...

**Some of the scenes with John and Sarah were a bit corny and had me wanting to groan, same with some of Number Six's lines.

**I wish there had been some more of Bernie Kosar. Best dog in the world.

**There were more special effects than I thought there would be but it was not to the detriment of the film.

**The Mogadorians. These guys were perhaps my least favourite part of the film. They were not at all like I imagined. Also, for the Dark Angel fans out there, did you notice that the Mogadorian Commander was played by Kevin Durand who played Joshua?!

Final thoughts?

**While I will watch the movie again, it will be more for the purpose of a 'quick fix'. As is usually the case, I pick the book over the film. The movie is definitely aimed at teens and I am unsure as to how many adults would actually describe it as anything more than 'a bit of fun'.

**Yay for the Aussies! Both Teresa Palmer and Callan McAuliffe are from Australia.

Tomorrow When the War Began is here!

Some of you may remember I blogged a couple of months ago about the extremely exciting news that the amazing Australian YA series Tomorrow When The War Began by John Marsden, was being made in to a movie. Well...it's out!

Last night, accompanied by some very special people (including Linda over at So Much To Tell You), I finally saw my most anticipated movie release of the year. All of us are mega fans of the series and we thought it was AMAZING! We were so happy they didn't screw it up and the move from book to screen was done so well and it stayed true to the book. I was really impressed with the casting which I think says a lot because as you all know, you always have your own image as to how the characters look. Oh and there is also an awesome Australian soundtrack as well.

When it finished, all of us wanted to stay in our seats and watch it again and again. We really hope that all 7 books get made into films, and all in quick succession. I have read that there is talk, if the movie is received well (!!), to make the first three books into movies and then the remaining books into a TV show. I vote all 7 into movies!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

If you have not read these amazing books, you should go out right now and buy the first. If you are a fan and are skeptical about seeing the movie, don't be, it's awesome.

Tomorrow When The War Began Film Trailer

If you are not already in the know, one of my all time favourite books, Tomorrow When The War Began, is FINALLY being made in to a movie. Because of the fact I love it to much, I am petrified the film will not do the book justice. But, judging by the trailer, so far it's looking good. The Australian release date for the film is 2nd September 2010!
